This article is titled 'teenager pistol hoodie gloats' and was published in The Sun newspaper February 23 2007. The fact that a human being is having their identity stripped by being called a 'hoodie', shows how bad the state of yob culture is becoming in the UK. It implies that people that wear a popular fashion garment are all criminals and are being ostracised by society. The emphasis in the article is on the fact that it was done by a teenager, as apposed to the gun gesture which the boy is doing. The word teenager is written in bold, therefore highlighting the age of the boy again. This is an example of the media portraying all teenagers as being the same and as if ant-social behaviour like this is expected by society from them. Also, he is referred to as being a 'thug' which is unnecessary language used by Guy Patrick - A journalist for The Sun newspaper. Portrayal of youth such as this, is undoubtedly having a detrimental effect on society's view of teenagers.
